After Over 3 Decades Together, Goldie Hawn And Kurt Russell Had Some Astonishing News

Few Hollywood relationships have been as successful as the one shared by Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. At 34 years together, the pair have beaten the odds to become one of Tinseltown’s longest-surviving couples. But after nearly three and a half decades in the spotlight as a couple, the duo is still capable of surprises. And a recent announcement has left many fans dumbstruck.

First meeting

Having spent half their lives in partnership, it’s safe to say that Hawn and Russell know each other pretty well. But the pair have actually been acquainted for far longer than many fans realize. In fact, the actors first met almost 50 years ago on the set of 1968’s The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.

Age gap

However, based on this first meeting, things weren’t destined to be. While the two undeniably hit it off, the small subject of the age gap ultimately stopped things from developing. “I was 21, and he was 16,” Hawn told the BBC’s Desert Island Discs in 2012. “I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young.”

Oscar winner

So after their first, fateful encounter, Hawn and Russell went their own separate and successful ways. Just two years later, for example, Hawn won an Oscar for her performance in 1969’s Cactus Flower. This in turn led to her becoming one of Hollywood’s best-loved comedic performers, and she earned herself another Oscar nom in 1980, this time for Private Benjamin.

Leading man

Meanwhile, Russell was busy shedding off his reputation as a child star. After featuring as the King himself in 1979’s Elvis, the actor teamed with director John Carpenter for 1981’s Escape from New York. And having now established himself as a screen tough guy, Russell further flexed his muscles in Carpenter’s The Thing.
